Immigration Lawyer in Las Vegas

Immigration client received an approved green card based on U visa

U visa based green cards finally approved!

A single mother hired us to represent her and two of her daughters in a U-visa case in 2014. Today, 10 years later, they finally became permanent residents!

The mother is a victim of a domestic violence crime that took place in Las Vegas. The ladies came to us after an unsuccessful attempt by their prior lawyer to file for a VAWA-based green card. This was something they were not eligible for due to an unlawful presence bar that applied to the mother as the principal VAWA applicant. This bar prevented her from adjusting status, and since she could not adjust neither could her derivative children. Unfortunately, several years and thousands of dollars have been wasted due to the former counsel’s errors.

We filed the U visa petition in 2014 and it was granted in 2019. We then applied for a U-visa-based adjustment of status in 2022. Finally, a decade after we started working with these ladies, their green cards have been approved! What a day!
