I did not come to immigration law by accident.

I immigrated to the United States from Armenia as a young person, and like many families before mine, my story began with uncertainty — with documents, deadlines, and the quiet pressure of building a life within a system that is often difficult to understand from the outside. Long before I became an immigration lawyer, I experienced firsthand what it means to rely on rules you did not write, procedures you must respect, and decisions that can shape generations.

Standing before images of Ellis Island, I am reminded that the American Dream was never loud. It was not built on speeches or slogans. It was built on discipline, endurance, and responsibility — carried quietly by millions of people who showed up, followed the process as best they could, and hoped their effort would matter.

The Generations Who Came Before Us

Those generations came with little more than resolve. They waited in lines. They answered questions. They were examined, documented, approved, or sometimes turned away. Their stories were not romantic in real time. They were demanding. And yet, they laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Today, immigration looks different. The laws are more complex. The consequences of mistakes are often more severe. Technology has accelerated timelines in some areas and slowed them dramatically in others. But the core truth remains unchanged: immigration is not abstract. It is personal. It is procedural. And it demands care.

Why I Chose Immigration Law

I am often asked why I chose to focus exclusively on immigration law. The answer is simple: this work matters in a way few areas of law do.

Immigration decisions ripple outward — affecting spouses, children, parents, and future generations. That kind of impact deserves focus, restraint, and experience.

The American Dream has never been guaranteed. It has always required effort, sacrifice, and responsibility. What has changed is not the dream itself, but the complexity of the path toward it.
