Start here - how we can help
Immigration law can be confusing and stressful — especially when you’re not sure what applies to your situation or where to begin.
This page is here to make things clearer. Below, we start with the typical milestones of representation, so you know what to expect if you decide to work with an immigration lawyer. Further down the page, you can explore our practice areas and choose the topic that matches your situation.
There is no pressure. Take your time, review the options, and contact us when you feel ready to take the next step.
Working With an Immigration Lawyer for the First Time?
Here’s what to expect when you work with our office.
Most people come to us with questions and uncertainty — especially if they have never worked with an immigration lawyer before. Our goal is to remove pressure, explain the process clearly, and guide you step by step.
Below are the typical milestones of representation.
1. Consultation: Clarity First, No Pressure
The consultation is designed to provide clear, candid guidance about your specific immigration situation. Some clients choose to retain our firm after the consultation, while others use the information to make informed decisions on their own. There is no obligation to proceed beyond the consultation. Our goal is simply to ensure that you leave with a realistic understanding of your options, risks, and next steps.
2. Opening the File – Payment
If following your consultation with the attorney – and in some simple matters your initial free consultation with our team member – we decide to move forward, we begin the working process.
You receive a secure link to a shared, end-to-end encrypted, passcode-protected workspace, where you will:
Upload documents listed clearly on your checklist
Complete questionnaires at your own pace
Review the Agreement for Legal Services before signing
We work exclusively with flat fees. In most matters, we do not require payment upfront, begin the working process in good faith, and collect both the attorney and any applicable government fees immediately prior to filing.
In more complex immigration cases, such as waiver applications, we typically offer a structured payment plan, such as half of the flat fee to start and the second half when the file is fully prepared and before we file it.
3. Evidence Collection & Case Building
Once we receive your documents, our work begins in earnest.
We prepare:
All required immigration forms
A detailed cover letter
Any necessary legal research
Careful organization and vetting of the evidence
We often return to clients to request additional documents to strengthen the case, always balancing quality with efficiency and remaining mindful of deadlines.
4. Review, Signing & Transparent Fees
When the case is ready — often within several working days for many family-based matters — we meet with you to:
Review everything together (review, review, review)
Sign the forms
Collect the flat attorney fee and government filing fees
The attorney fee is exactly what was outlined at the consultation — no surprises, no changes.
5. Final Quality Control & Filing
Before filing, every case undergoes a multi-tier quality control process. Every form, page, and supporting document is reviewed carefully.
We then:
Scan and save the complete filing
Submit the application
Confirm proper delivery and receipt
This is a critical step, and we do not rush it.
6. Case Monitoring & Ongoing Support
After filing, the government communicates both with our office and directly with you.
We stay on top of the case and reach out whenever action is required, such as:
Biometrics appointments
Interview notices
Requests from USCIS
If additional evidence is requested — uncommon when a case is thoroughly prepared — we handle it.
7. No Surprise Charges — Ever
Any additional work required by USCIS, including:
Requests for Evidence (RFEs)
Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs)
is fully covered by the original flat fee.
You will never receive an additional legal bill.
Our office also covers:
Certified translations
Copying
Shipping and mailing costs
8. Interview Preparation (If Required)
If an interview is scheduled, we prepare you carefully so you know:
What to expect
How to answer questions
What documents to bring
We also file updated supporting evidence, such as new relationship documentation, before the interview whenever appropriate.
9. Decision, Approval & What Comes Next 🎉
If no interview is required, or once the interview is complete, we receive the final decision — most often an approval.
Identity documents such as work permits and green cards often arrive at our office. When possible, we invite clients to stop by to pick them up in person, answer final questions, and celebrate the outcome together.
